Extended Tour – Northern Explorer

Day 1. Home—Cervantes ( L/D) We head off on the Forrest highway and make our way through Perth on the freeway via Yanchep NP on our way to Lobster Shack for lunch. Then tour Nambung National Park, home to the Pinnacles, a desert area spotted with many ancient rock pillars, Marvel at the Stromatolites, and stay overnight at Cervantes Motel.

Day 2. Cervantes — Kalbarri ( B/L/D) We travel north via Port Denison and Dongara onto Geraldton to take in the Maritime Museum. Enjoy stories of the Abrolhos Islands, which are told in the shipwreck Gallery. Check out of the HMAS Sydney on route via Northampton Pink Waters at Gregory and on to Kalbarri. Stay overnight at the Palm Resort Motel with Evening meal and breakfast In Kalbarri.

Day 3 Kalbarri Tour the Kalbarri National Park and see Murchison River Gorge flow through the Z bend, Skywalk, Natures Window and Hawks Head and Ross Graham Lookouts. View Murchison House Station and then take the opportunity to discover Kalbarri. Staff overnight at the Palm Resort Motel with dinner and breakfast once again in Kalbarri.

Day 4. Kalbarri— Carnarvon (B/L/D) We continue our northerly Travel over the Galena Bridge onto Overlander Roadhouse and Wooramel. Then on to Carnarvon, which was founded in 1883, as a port, and was named after Henry Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon. Then to the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum. See the banana plantations that exist on the fertile river flats that visit Carnarvon Heritage Precinct and stay overnight at Carnarvon.

Day 5 Carnarvon-Exmouth Journey north to Minilya, as we make our way to Coral Bay. Being one of the world’s largest and accessible coral reefs, which fringes on the Ningaloo reef. After lunch, delight in the underwater world as we take a glass bottom boat tour. Discover Cape Range National Park, which is home to a series of spectacular gorges and then depart to Exmouth to the Pot Shot Motel.

Day 6 Exmouth We visit Milyering Eco Centre, within the Cape Range National Park. Then join the Yardie Creek boat Cruise, have lunch in the Cape Range National Park, and then meander back to the Motel for some free time . Renowned for being one of the worlds most treacherous coastlines, watch the glorious sunset at Vlamingh Head Lighthouse.

Day 7 Exmouth–Mt Augustus With waterways, Dirt Tracks, and Homesteads, head out to Learmonth Airfield and go through the Rough Range and then turn off at Bullara Homestead. Take Burket Rd, pit stop for morning tea, then off up North West Coastal Highway. Long hall on Towera Rd to Nyang Station and Towera Homestead. Catch up with Yannarie River and then past Lyndon Station Homestead. Take in the vastness of our great North West and go to Cobra Homestead off Cobra Gifford Creek Rd and Mt Augustus Lookout, before arriving at your destination.

Day 8 Mount Augustus -Meekatharra This morning we tour around Mount Augustus looking at Mundee, Beedoboon, Pound and Cattle Pool and the points of interest before travelling via old Mount Gould Police Station on our way to Meekatharra is a former gold rush town and the first settlement occurred in 1894. It is an Aboriginal name, meaning ‘place of little water’, known to the Yamatji people. Meekatharra is the hub. Royal Flying Doctor and The School of the Air use to be based there. Day 9 Meekatharra – Dalwallinu We head south to Cue where gold was discovered in 1892 and the town was named after an early prospector, Tom Cue. Lake Austin and the town are both named after surveyor Robert Austin, who was the first European to explore and chart the area in 1895. Mount Magnet is an old gold rush town and Robert Austin named the Hill as consequence of the magnetic properties of rocks at the summit. Paynes Find was named after the prospector, Thomas Payne, who was the first to discover gold in the area. Overnight Dalwallinu

Day 10 Dalwallinu – Home We pack up for the last day tour through Wongan Hillis, for morning tea and explore the visitor centre, Enter the Avon Valley home to Ballooning and our last lunch in Northam, Welcome back to the South West and thank you for travelling with us. “au revoir
